Hillsboro School District needed to make significant upgrades to the historic Reedville Elementary. The old portables were replaced with a permanent, modular building containing classrooms and a new cafeteria. Community members were happy that the project preserved the historic charm of the exterior of the school, while providing needed additions and upgrades. A parent/bus drop-off area was added to mitigate traffic and safety concerns, and the addition of new playground equipment and all-weather synthetic turf gives students more room to play. Frontage improvements were also made, including the addition of a bus-turnout.

During this project, 3J was working with both the County and Hillsboro School District on separate projects located in the same area. 3J proposed working on the projects in a collaborative manner to streamline the design process and reduce construction time and community impact. To learn more about the partnership that 3J facilitated, and how that benefited both the School District and the County, check out our news article here.
