A multigenerational farm in Grafton, MA decided to dedicate several parcels of unused land to solar development. After successfully constructing 6.2 MW arrays over 13 acres of land, the landowner decided to dedicate more land to solar, this time implementing a solar and agriculture model known as agrivoltaics. The additional 29-acres of land was divided into two arrays (Grafton 3 and 4), one for vegetables and one for livestock. 3J worked with AES, a global energy company, to provide civil engineering solutions to integrate livestock within the arrays. Grafton 3 includes a 2.9 MW ground-mounted, fixed tilt solar array (over 7,000 modules) with battery storage. Grafton 4 includes a 250 KW ground-mounted, fixed tilt solar array with battery storage.
