Commonwealth Lake Park

Portland, OR

A .8 mile flat and paved trail makes it convenient for bikers and walkers to enjoy the man-made Commonwealth Lake.

About this Project

3J worked closely with the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) to replace a pedestrian bridge at Commonwealth Lake Park. The bridge was found to be beyond repair and didn’t meet ADA requirements. A key element of the design left the original abutments in place, thus eliminating the need for in-water work and lengthening out the already slow permitting process. New bridge abutments were constructed to incorporate the new bridge design that spans the entire waterway while reducing the slopes for ADA accessibility.
