A campus expansion delivering new educational spaces, improved site access, and long-term infrastructure upgrades that reflect the community’s investment in its schools.
3J provided land use planning and civil engineering services to support the expansion of the Amity High School campus, which included the addition of a new Middle School and High School gymnasium, and renovated parking lots. Because the high school has been renovated four times over its lifetime, understanding the existing conditions across multiple generations of construction required significant attention.
Amity’s stormwater infrastructure is currently over capacity, necessitating as much on-site treatment and detention as possible while also navigating challenging site grades. 3J addressed these constraints by treating several very shallow systems, providing enhanced treatment in select areas, and bypassing treatment in locations where adequate collection was not feasible. Close coordination with City engineers was essential to reach acceptable solutions.
Additionally, 3J’s planning team guided the project through the City’s land use process, preparing a complete application package and representing the School District before the Amity Planning Commission. The community is excited to see their bond dollars invested in substantial campus upgrades that will benefit students and residents for generations.
