GIS Technician Ian Maher Joins 3J

3J Consulting is pleased to welcome Ian Maher to the team! In his role as GIS Technician, he will be responsible for coordinating with co-workers, project team members, and clients on GIS-related activities.

Ian graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a minor in Fish & Wildlife. During that time, he published a scientific paper on Scarab beetles. After graduating, he spent a few years living abroad and teaching English, including in Taiwan and the Czech Republic. After returning to the United States, he decided to pursue a career that would allow him to use both his scientific and creative sides which led him to a career in GIS.  Ian recently received his GIS Certificate from Portland Community College.

Ian’s previous experience includes working with the Upper Nehalem Watershed Council assisting in their efforts towards restoring Coho salmon habitat. He also provided GIS support on projects for various organizations, including the Oswego Lake Watershed Council, the Wildlife Center of the North Coast, American Aquifers, and the Portland Audubon Society.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys traveling (or at least browsing SkyScanner), making electronic music, exploring the outdoors, and creating map-based clothing to sell on Etsy.
