We are excited to announce recent promotions at 3J!
Josh Gilchrist, PE, promoted to Project Manager. Josh has worked at 3J for nine years and he’s played a key role in the strategic growth of 3J’s Tacoma office while advancing the firm’s technical expertise, mentoring engineering staff, and leading complex engineering projects. In his new role, Josh will continue to oversee project delivery, support staff development, strengthen client partnerships, and contribute to the continued growth of our South Puget Sound operations.
Sam Huck, AICP, promoted to Senior Planner. Sam has been providing land use planning services to a range of 3J’s public and private clients over the past four years. His work has included several UGB amendments, contract planning services to support our partner jurisdictions, and development projects for public facilities, subdivisions, and school districts. In his new role, Sam will independently manage complex projects, exercise professional judgement, anticipate project issues and provide strategic advice. He will also mentor junior planners, participate in business development and serve as a primary contact with jurisdictions and project team members.
Ken Ota, PE, promoted to Senior Project Engineer. Since joining 3J in 2017, Ken has contributed to a diverse range of projects, including site development, transportation, trails, parks, renewable energy, and K-12 facilities. His promotion recognizes not only the quality of Ken’s technical work, but also 3J’s confidence in his ability to lead projects, mentor staff, and help strengthen the company. As a Senior Project Engineer, he’ll continue serving as a technical resource and begin the transition into more project management tasks while boosting his team’s capabilities through experience and growth.
Taryn Girard, PE, LSI, promoted to Project Engineer. Taryn joined 3J in 2019 as a civil designer and has been instrumental in the growth of our renewable energy and geospatial services practices. Taryn also serves as Vice President of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Cascadia Region and shares his expertise by teaching at George Fox University. In his new role, Taryn will continue leading project delivery efforts, supporting clients, mentoring emerging professionals, and assisting project managers.
