Transportation Engineer

Job Summary

In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Manager or Principal on a variety of multi-disciplinary transportation projects along with other types of projects as necessary such as utility, school, commercial, residential, renewable energy, or other site/land development design projects. Duties will include preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules. You will also prepare calculations and reports for various disciplines and phases of transportation projects, such as horizontal and vertical profiles, cross sections, signing and striping plans, stormwater drainage and pipe sizing, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, grading, erosion control, and permitting. You will interact directly with clients, contractors, industry partners, and jurisdictions, as well as perform construction administration duties including site visits, construction coordination meetings, and inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Civil Engineer in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain within six months
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 6+ years experience in the planning, design and/or construction supervision of public works, commercial, transportation, or storm water management
  • Proficient with computer applications/design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D/Microstation, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Sound technical capabilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work on large projects in a team atmosphere requiring coordination with in-office team members as well as outside consultants and clients
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time with limited supervision

Desired Experience, Skills, and Registrations

  • Understanding of design standards for various jurisdictions and agencies in the Portland metro area, including ODOT
  • Washington PE
  • Experience with Vehicle Tracking, ArcGIS, MS Project, and Bluebeam
  • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads
  • Experience with implementing Low Impact Development (LID) features on public and private projects

 

Salary Range

$85,000-$102,000 depending on experience. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a Senior Transportation Engineer position, with compensation up to $127,000+
