Land Use Planner

Job Summary

In this role, you will work as a member of the Community Planning team under a Manager or Principal on a variety of planning projects. Duties will include preparing and delivering reports, memos, applications, and presentations, conducting research, and coordinating with co-workers, clients, project team members, and regulatory agencies on scheduling and deliverables. You will also assist with planning and implementing public engagement activities and other presentations, and create attractive, easy-to-read graphics to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, or a related field-or equivalent work experience
  • Strong verbal, written, and web-based communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of land use policy and how to interpret and apply comprehensive plans and development codes
  • Knowledge of public engagement programs to reach diverse communities, such as interviews and focus groups, questionnaires, designing public events, and facilitating committee meetings
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare reports on land use, housing, physical, social, and economic issues
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work with multiple project managers
  • Proficient with Microsoft and Adobe Creative Suite

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Graduate degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field
  • Knowledge of Oregon and/or Washington Statewide Planning Systems
  • Ability to read and interpret development plans
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and Bluebeam Revu
  • Graphic design skills

Pay Range

$33.65-$36.00/hr depending on experience
