2025 Summer Civil Engineering Intern

Job Summary

In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in 3J Consulting’s ongoing and successful internship program where you will work alongside our Civil Engineering and Water Resources teams. This program focuses on training and offers exposure to projects such as transportation systems, water resources, educational facilities, commercial and residential developments, renewable energy projects, and other site and land development work.

With support from our mentors and project managers, you will learn to prepare design and construction plans, including site drainage, pipe sizing, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, site grading, street design, erosion control, and permitting. You will also apply civil engineering standards for design calculations, assist in preparing reports, and research and apply federal, state, and local codes.

During the internship, you will use industry design and analysis programs like AutoCAD Civil 3D, XPSTORM, ArcGIS, SiteScan, EPANet, and Bluebeam Studio. You’ll also visit construction sites and spend time with our Land Use Planners and Marketing team to gain a full understanding of the industry.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program
  • Preferably completed junior year before the internship starts
  • Available in person in Beaverton, Oregon, for at least 10 weeks
  • Quick learner of new programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork and independent work skills

Pay

$24/hr
