Civil Engineer

Job Summary

In this role, you will work with a team under a Manager or Principal on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects which may include transportation, utility, school, commercial, residential, renewable energy, or other site/land development design projects. Duties will include preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules. You will also prepare calculations and reports for various disciplines and phases of land/site development and transportation projects, such as site drainage and pipe sizing, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, site grading, street design, erosion control, and permitting. You will coordinate and communicate directly with reviewing agencies and track permits, requirements, and schedules as the project progresses. You will also be expected to perform construction administration duties including site visits, construction coordination meetings, and inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Civil Engineer in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain within six months
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 4+ years experience in the planning, design and/or construction supervision of public works, commercial, transportation, storm water management, or subdivision projects
  • Proficient with computer applications / design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word

 

  • Sound technical capabilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work on large projects in a team atmosphere requiring coordination with in-office team members as well as outside consultants and clients
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new programs and perform unique design tasks
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time with limited supervision

 

Desired Experience, Skills, and Registrations

  • Understanding of design standards for various jurisdictions and agencies in the Portland metro area, as well as experience in the land use entitlement process
  • Washington PE
  • Experience with Vehicle Tracking, AutoTURN, ArcGIS, and Bluebeam
  • Certified Erosion & Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)
  • Experience with implementing Low Impact Development (LID) features on public and private projects

Salary Range

$73,000-$100,000 depending on experience
