Civil Designer

Job Summary

In this role, you will work directly for a Team Leader, Project Manager, or Principal on various projects. Duties will include preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications for projects. You will coordinate and communicate directly with reviewing agencies and track all permits, requirements, and schedules as the project progresses. You will also be expected to perform construction administration duties including site visits, construction coordination meetings, and inspections.

Qualifications

  • EI Registration or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the areas of site design, storm, sanitary and water design, grading design, street design, and/or permit processing functions, with a variety of projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Exceptional technical capabilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new programs to perform other design tasks.
  • Desire to work hard and produce high quality designs.

Desired experience, skills, and registrations

  • Experience with implementing Low Impact Development (LID) features on public and private projects.
  • Understanding of design standards for various jurisdictions and agencies in the Portland metro area, as well as experience in the land use entitlement process.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Infraworks.
