Originally constructed in 1953, the Molalla Middle School is getting a modern replacement that will improve student safety and learning environments for students.
In May 2024, Voters approved bond funding for the Molalla River School District to replace its existing middle school, which was originally constructed in 1953. The replacement will be a modern educational facility, designed to enhance student safety, improve learning environments, and eliminate site hazards.
The new middle school will be constructed on site while the existing school remains fully operational, presenting unique scheduling and logistical challenges aligned with the academic calendar. 3J provided land use planning services and guided the project team through the land use and early permitting phases to maximize the project schedule. Input from the neighbors was incorporated into the design, and the planning commission unanimously approved the project with minimal testimony at the planning commission meeting. The new school is scheduled to open in 2027, after which the original 1954 building will be demolished to complete the campus transformation.
