GIS Technician

Job Summary

As a member of the Community Planning team under the GIS Manager, your responsibilities will include coordinating with coworkers, project team members, and clients while performing various tasks related to planning and engineering projects. These tasks include creating, maintaining, and updating data, organizing data sets, and preparing attractive and easy to read maps to effectively communicate complex ideas. You will also be responsible for suggesting workflows that could increase efficiency and assisting in the development of forms and procedures for data collection, error checking and correction, report definitions, and production control procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in GIS, bachelor’s degree in geospatial sciences or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of elemental GIS principles
  • Experience using current GIS technologies and leveraging the ArcGIS suite including ArcGIS Online
  • Good verbal, written, and mathematical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment and responsive to deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work while working on multiple projects
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of scripting, Esri mobile and 3D applications, QGIS, AutoCad/Civil 3D, working with drones and drone data
  • Programming/coding for use in GIS web applications
  • Experience in planning, engineering, or watershed/natural resources a plus

 

Salary Range

$26.44 – $33.65 depending on experience
