On June 17, the Cornelius City Council unanimously approved the Cornelius Town Center Plan. 3J’s Steve Faust and Anais Mathez led a team of consultants to develop the Plan. The effort kicked off with three months of robust outreach efforts garnering more than 500 touches with Cornelius community members. All outreach efforts were bilingual, with assistance from Centro Cultural de Washington County. The Town Center Plan, associated Urban Renewal Plan, zoning code updates were developed to revitalize the downtown core through infill and redevelopment, multi-modal transportation improvements, and other capital improvements to build on the city’s cultural and civic assets. The Urban Renewal Plan is scheduled for an adoption hearing on July 15 and zoning code changes will be implemented in the fall of 2019.
