In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in 3J Consulting’s ongoing and successful internship program where you will work alongside our Civil Engineering and Water Resources teams. This internship program places an emphasis on training, with exposure to a variety of civil engineering projects which may include transportation systems, water resources, educational facilities, commercial and residential development, renewable energy implementation, as well as other site and land development projects.
While working with our mentors and team leads, you will learn about all aspects of the preparation of design and construction plans including site drainage and pipe sizing, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, site grading, street design, erosion control, and permitting. You will also learn to apply civil engineering standards of practice to carry out design calculations and assist in preparing reports, as well as learn how to research and apply federal, state, and local jurisdictional codes. During the internship you will have the opportunity to practice and use industry design and analysis programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, XPSTORM, ArcGIS, SiteScan, EPANet, and Bluebeam Studio, visit sites during construction, and spend time with our Land Use Planners and our Marketing team to obtain a full understanding of the industry.
